Emily Dickinson's Biography
Emily Dickinson was born in 1830. She was born and raised in Amherst, Massachusetts. She stayed in her home, and rarely went out into the world. There were not many people that came to see her during those years. Because of this, her worldview might have been very narrow. Sir Charles Wadsworth influenced her when they met on a trip going to Philadelphia. There are reports that some of the poems about “heartsickness” were about him, when he left to the West Coast. By the time she was in her adult years, she became very distant from the outer world, isolating herself from everyone. While isolated, she read a lot and spent a lot of time with family. On May 15, 1886, she passed away at the age of 56. On her death certificate, is shows that she suffered from Bright's disease. But, after more research was done, it shows that she might have suffered from high blood pressure. This could have led to her early death.
